Chapter 9

Think Different. Think You.

“Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do. Think Different.”

YOU are the strategy.

This book has given you the framework to create a winning strategy for your business. A strategy based on YOU.

By now, you should’ve realized that YOU are the competitive advantage you have over your rivals.

YOU are the only thing that rivals cannot copy, and if you develop a strategy around your uniqueness, it would be very difficult for someone to enter your space.

Just like a great dish cannot be easily recreated just by knowing what the ingredients are, your competitors cannot copy your business or your app just by identifying each distinct element.

No, it’s much more than that. It’s the behind-the-scenes planning, strategizing, mix & matching of all the parts of your business from the idiosyncratic company culture to the singular combination of personalities. THAT, my friend, is what makes your strategy unique and inimitable.

Think Apple. Think Steve Jobs.

Be a Trailblazer

Being in the mobile apps business puts you at the forefront of technology. Taking a backseat to see if “it” works for someone else is for wimps.

You are a visionary. A trailblazer.

As a trailblazer, you get to set the standard, you get to write the rules, and you get to establish your presence in a space before anyone else.

One more thing.

I can give you all the necessary ingredients to a great recipe, but you’ll never be able to cook just like world-class chef Masaharu Morimoto (of Iron Chef fame). Why? Because it’s not about having the recipe book, it’s about execution. There is only one Masaharu Morimoto as there is only one of you.

Masaharu Morimoto

Got an idea? Don’t hoard it. Do something with it. Don’t be afraid of revealing your idea to the world because someone might steal your idea. Because an idea in and of itself is useless unless it’s properly executed.

Excellent execution wins the game.

“Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else.”

Judy Garland

The End.
